JEDES BILD IST INTERPRETATION
EVERY IMAGE IS AN INTERPRETATION
Lisa Althaus works with drawing, painting, objects, collage, and animation.
The starting point for her work is the logic of images: How do meaning, association, and representation arise, and how can they be shifted?
She develops series in which figurative elements, material fragments, and spatial structures are combined into hybrids.
Animals, plants, fungi, and objects appear not as representations but as pictorial figures - as vehicles of transformation, adaptation, and power dynamics.
Drawing serves as both the starting point and the mode of thought. It is translated into painting, objects, and animation: line becomes surface, surface becomes form, image becomes movement.
In animation, the static image enters a temporal order; in the object, it becomes spatially tangible.
The works do not seek a single, unambiguous meaning. They examine how images organize perception - and at what points this order becomes fragile.
