Ophiocordyceps unilateralis is a parasitic fungus native to South America that grows on ants and manipulates their behavior, leaving the host without control over its own body. The fungal spores germinate on the ants' exoskeleton, forming a tubular structure with a club-shaped fruiting body. Bioactive compounds disrupt the ant's nervous system and control its muscles. After an infection period of three to six days, the insect moves to a location that offers optimal living conditions for the fungus and dies there.

Formally, the object takes the form of a totem, covered with drawings and mysterious patterns.

A tribute to the industrious wood ants in the artist's garden.
